Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 10, 2026At Photomatch, we take the privacy of your photographs, personal data, and biometric information seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Photographer Account Information
When a photographer creates an account, we collect:
- Name and email address
- Login credentials (stored securely using industry-standard hashing)
- Business or studio name (optional)
1.2 Event Photos
Photographers upload event photos to create galleries. These photos are stored on secure, encrypted servers and are only accessible through private, photographer-controlled event links.
1.3 Guest Selfies
When a guest takes a selfie to find their photos, the image is used solely for the purpose of face matching within that specific event. Selfies are processed in real time and are permanently deleted from our servers immediately after the matching process is complete. We do not store, archive, or retain selfie images.
1.4 Face Recognition Data
Our system generates numerical face descriptors (embeddings) from uploaded event photos to enable matching. These descriptors are:
- Scoped exclusively to the event in which they were generated
- Never shared across events, accounts, or third parties
- Deleted when the event is deleted by the photographer
1.5 Usage and Analytics Data
We collect anonymized usage data such as page views, photo view counts, and download counts to help photographers understand engagement with their events. This data does not include personally identifiable information.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide face recognition matching between guest selfies and event photos
- Deliver private event galleries to authenticated users
- Send email notifications to guests when their matched photos are ready
- Provide photographers with event analytics and reporting
- Improve the reliability and performance of our service
3. Data Storage and Security
All photos and data are stored using encrypted cloud infrastructure. We employ industry-standard security practices including:
- Encryption at rest and in transit (TLS/SSL)
- Access controls and authentication for all API endpoints
- Rate limiting to prevent abuse
- Regular security reviews
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information, photos, or face data with third parties. Data is only shared in the following limited circumstances:
- With cloud infrastructure providers (e.g., storage, CDN) that process data on our behalf under strict agreements
- When required by law, regulation, or valid legal process
5. No Public Galleries
Event galleries are never made publicly available, indexed by search engines, or discoverable by anyone who does not have the photographer-issued private link. There are no public-facing photo directories on Photomatch.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Photographers retain full control over their event data. A photographer may delete an event at any time, which permanently removes all associated photos, face data, and analytics from our servers.
Guest selfies are never stored beyond the duration of the matching request, which typically completes within seconds.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies for session management and authentication. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
8. Children's Privacy
Photomatch is not directed at individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you
